Question:
My daughter and her husband both serve in the US Navy in Pensecola Florida. My daughter will be having her first baby in early May 2008. She was going to come to Cincinnati for her shower but will not be able to. Do I have a shower for her and mail gifts? Any advice would be great. Thanks, Lorie
Answer:
Dear Lorie,
Congratulations, Grandmother-to-Be! let me say right upfront that we at The Shower Diva give our heartfelt thanks to your daughter and her husband for their service to our country. How wonderful that this couple is expecting their first baby!
We've received several questions on how to host showers for mothers (and brides) who reside in different states. The long-distance shower is quickly emerging as a mega-trend and will continue to evolve as the Internet (including Blogs and photo upload sites like Flickr) and other supporting technologies get easier to operate and less expensive to own.
Have a look at solutions we designed for Allison, Delainie, Laura, and Stacy. In each case, the four women we helped had different dilemmas requiring special solutions. Each lady shared a long-distance shower problem in common, but needed a unique workaround to fit her case. Check out our answers for top info on registries, shower timing, registry gift delivery, how to host an online (web-cam) shower and more!
Again, congratulations! May you throw the best long-distance baby shower ever!
Happy Showering,

Susan "The Shower Diva"
