Question:
I read your response about asking guests to ship bridal shower gifts directly to the bride/groom when you are having an at of town shower. I too would think that most people would assume to send a gift, however, is there a way to word it in the invitation to ship gifts directly there for those guests who may not think of that?
Answer:
Dear Lauren,
Yes! On the portion of the invitation where guests are advised of the bride's registry, simply add a line that says, "For your convenience, ________ registry offers direct gift shipping to the bride and groom."
The sentence makes it sound like you and the registry are doing the guests a favor. Actually (and most people already know this) you are giving them instructions. Your "convenience" tip is the diplomatic way of letting invitees of the out-of-town couple know that you don't want the Bride-to-Be saddled with any gift-schlepping issues. They'll get the hint and no feathers will be ruffled.
Happy Showering,
