As an honors graduate from Pasadena's prestigious Art Center College of Design, Susan (Nickey) Newton has kept one goal in mind – she wanted to make a difference by using her design talent in service to others. Her keen insight into people coupled with a warm empathy made her a natural at creating games and party favors aimed at celebrating two of life's major transitions -- weddings and baby showers!
Newton's art and people skills were apparent in high school. She built a reputation early on as the girl who could throw the best parties. This natural hostess graced celebrations with an innate sensitivity to the guest's wants coupled with an uncanny ability to combine fashion with new party trends. Her eye for visual detail coupled with her strong sense of good taste made her an icon throughout her school years. So naturally throwing showers became a no-brainer.
Newton gifted a dear friend by creating an original, personalized bridal shower board game for her. It was a smashing success and she was encouraged, in fact hounded, to market the board professionally. Newton's gift of friendship ultimately resulted in BrideBingo Deluxe, one of her most popular products.
There was a natural evolution from Newton's roles as high school party icon and gifted designer into running her own company. Newton is the owner of BadaBadaBingo, a business specializing in the creation of upscale games and personalized favors for showers, and is the creative genius behind TheShowerDiva.com, which premiered online on June 6, 2007.
Susan was first a maid of honor at the tender age of 19, where she learned bridal shower rules of etiquette and how to "shower" a bride with the same magic she teaches at TheShowerDiva.com. Baby showers came next, of course. Newton stepped up and learned baby shower etiquette and combined that knowledge with original game designs that are elegant conversation starters! Through it all, Newton has never lost sight of her goal – to make her friends (and now clients!) feel warm, loved and celebrated.
As a matter of fact, she too wanted to have a baby shower. For herself!
Although doctors once said she couldn't have a baby, she kept throwing great baby showers for her friends who showered her with great advice. Thanks to the positive energy from creating Baby Bingo, she claims, she finally got pregnant. First came Tori, closely followed by Emily!
